February 10, 2013 EPCOT Notes

The planet is FINALLY getting a much needed rehab! It's always nice to see flowers in bloom in February.
The banks around the pools are marked out for the Flower & Garden Festival plantings to go in.
There's more work going on with the Oz themed play area with giant poppies and some game tents now in place
The entrance to the Oz area The cupola of the American Adventure is being rehabbed
Doorways on both of the World Showcase entrance area shops are being rehabbed.

January 19, 2013 Magic Kingdom and EPCOT Notes

This will soon be coming down. With the scrims around Yankee Trader down, Fantasyland is
more visible from Big Thunder.
Colombia Harbour House is
still being rehabbed.
The view of the tower
from Liberty Square.
Here's a peek into the construction area.
It looks like things are nearing completion. With the walls pushed out for construction, this has become
a real bottleneck in the park.
Overall these new E-Ticket restrooms are looking really good.
There's even more scaffolding in place on Splash Mountain.
There's now a bridge for the work crews to access the mountain. Sleepy Hollow is being rehabbed right now.
Cool new shirt with the park logos (including the Earful Tower!) With the cold snap, the water
has been turned off/down for
the Casey Junior play area.
Tomorrowland Terrace is picking
up the slack for the Main Street Bakery while it's closed.
Here's the menu for breakfast, which include beignets!
The entrance to EPCOT is being remodeled for the new turnstiles. Love this cool mural! Character Spot is still in rehab.
The Oz themed play area is taking shape for the Flower & Garden Festival.
This is the start of all of the preparations coming in the next few weeks.
The description of this weeks "Limited Time Magic" The reality (6 trees, 4 characters and some fake snow).
While it may be a free, special add-on, we overheard several
disappointed guests who felt the description did not match the reality.
The rest of Canada is snow free. Another cool retro T-Shirt. And another cool new shirt.
Habit Heroes has re-opened.

January 12, 2013 Magic Kingdom and Other Notes

There's a big wall up where more of the turnstiles
are being replaced with the new RFID pods.
The Bakery is closed for its transformation to Starbucks.
Hall of Champions facade is
being rehabbed now.
The building at the entrance to Adventureland is being rehabbed

More rehab walls inside Adventureland  The water between the
Treehouse and Jungle Cruise is looking really scummy right now
with trash and pollen.

The new effect is lurking
below the surface.
Splash is down for an
extensive rehab.
Scaffolding is up on the big drop
All around there is rockwork being stripped and replaced.
There's work happening all over the place simultaneously.

Lift belts are getting replaced  Lots of work to do!  The back half of Big Thunder's queue is closed off for the enhancements.

These apparently will be crates of dynamite on the mountain that will be part of the interactive queue.  Rapunzel's tower is visible
from Big Thunder's exit.
The "new" Yankee Trader is
out from behind the scrims.

This side looks good. This side looks good too. Lots of detail is starting to
become visible above the fence.

A lot of finishing work is looking nearly complete now.

Looks like an overall good fit for Fantasyland.

The purple on the dome matches
the purple tower roof.
Nice view from the reopened
balcony of Pinocchio Village Haus.
The candelabra now moves with
the windmill on the sign.

There's a constant line
for Be Our Guest.
More track and rockwork is in place for the Mine Coaster.

Double drop New curved track along the
back edge of the site.
More of the building
facades taking shape.
Lots of rock forms in place. Taking a peak through the fence window.

That may be the steepest coaster drop in the Magic Kingdom. Overview of the site. Peak in the other window.

Lift #2 Here's the curved track
from the other side.
It's really starting to take shape now

The Dumbo interactive queue is still not open after all these months. The Avenger's monorail train
is still out and about.
The new DVC building is
coming along quickly.

The roof framework is staring to come together.

It's starting to look like the existing Grand Floridian buildings.

Lots of new rooms being added with this building. It's amazing how much Grand Floridian merchandise there is!

T-shirts, pins, postcards, key chains, Christmas ornaments and more

I wonder if all resorts will have this kind of selection or just this one since it's the high end? Like the other islands in the Seven Seas Lagoon, the island that
was home to the wave machine is being cleared of overgrowth.

I'm guessing that little booth was a control room for the old wave machine.

The Marathon has meant a lot
of signs, cones and other stuff
all around the property.
It appears they're doing a big remodel on the
Hawaii building of the Polynesian.

All of the rooms and the concierge suite look like they're being stripped and rebuilt. These are the room
that have Magic Kingdom view, so they are the most expensive of the Polynesian's expensive rooms.

They've started doing some work on the American Adventure building. Everywhere you go there are now
the RFID scanners on the registers.
That same disintegrated broom
has been there for more than
a year now...BAD SHOW!

There are still vestiges of Christmas in the shop windows around the parks. The new 2013 shirts remind me of
the old Dueling Dragons shirts
from Islands of Adventure.

The Bakery at the Boardwalk is closed for a remodel, and a
temporary tent is up just outside to sell the baked goods.
The Swan is getting a facelift.
