Progress continues on the exterior rockwork for the Antarctica buildings.
It's really impressive to see how fast the rock formations are taking shape.
The crews are moving down the wall and framing up the rocks.
The crews are working hard to make the deadline for the ride opening.
As the rocks rise higher, more of the new attraction is becoming visible over the fences.
Supposedly the tall rock should start looking like a penguin soon.

SeaWorld is all decked
out for Christmas!
One of the simplest and most
clever decorations around.
One great thing about Orlando is poinsettias in the flower beds.
Palm trees and Christmas tree The shops are all stocked with ornaments and gifts.
SeaWorld and Busch Gardens have a line of custom
nutcrackers and matching ornaments.
Passholders got a mini-preview of the Christmas Celebration this weekend.
The food at SeaWorld is always
good, and the holiday specials
are a really nice treat.
This year they're doing a version of the KFC "famous bowl" but with turkey and served in a bread bowl. Carbo goodness!!! Voyagers roast turkey dinner
is really delicious.
The pathway is all set for the start
of the event next weekend.
The rink is setup for the ice show.
The skaters were out practicing for their debut in a week. This year there is a second
snow globe setup.
The Seven Seas Railway is setup again this year. All of Happy Harbor is decorated.
Polar Express has pulled in a week early!
This is really one of the most magical Christmas experiences in all of the Orlando theme parks.
The Antarctica project is really coming along!
Lots of rockwork is already up and a pair of Quonset huts as well.
With less than 200 days until the scheduled opening, the site has work happening all around.
The huge rocks are really impressive looking already. The backstage area is being
worked on as well.
The building is fully enclosed at this point, and the walls are being prepped for their finish.
The peak is now visible from
several spots in the park.
You can catch glimpses of the Quonset huts around the park as well.
Lots of work visible above the fences now.
The rockwork is going up really quickly, especially compared to Disney's rockwork projects
that seem to take forever most of the time.

Overview of the Antarctica area. The framing for the rockwork around the door of the
gift shop is really starting to take shape.
Looking down into the middle of the area a large rock formation is being framed.
It appears this will be the entrance to the ride/attraction.
Doesn't look like much is happening to the restaurant yet. A whole bunch of rock/snow panels are being fabricated.
Most of the building seems to be enclosed with wall panels now,
and scaffolding is going up all around the outside.
Just two days until Spooktacular starts and it looks like everything is ready to go!
There are a lot of these bubblemakers all around. Some of the scenery. One of the jellyfish umbrella
candy stations.
The stage is setup for the
costumed character photos.
Even though it's barely October, the Sea of Trees is going up on the lake.
While it seems early, SeaWorld's Christmas Celebration starts in less than six weeks on November 17th.
The crews are hard at work getting more trees up.

September 26, 2012

The building is getting wrapped in scaffolding for the exterior work. The rigid insulation is going
up on the sheathing.
Those are some big air conditioning units they installed on the roof.
This side has all its studs in place
 but no sheathing up yet.
There's more snow/rock
work going on near the fence.
There's rebar framework going up around the shop for the rocks and ice
The building is huge and
the roof looks nearly complete.
This appears to be the staging area for the construction vehicles. Overview of the building
I guess these trees will somehow
be incorporated into Antarctica.
It will be interesting to see how
the transitions into Antarctica
are made with trees and rocks.
Lots of work happening
all over the building.
The rate of progress is really impressive.
The Bayside Pathway is getting setup for Halloween Spooktacular.
The little booths are all ready. The inflatable octopus is ready
to go for October.
Lots of fun set pieces.
The stadium roof is ready to go up. Entrance sign on the pathway. New decorations in the Waterfront.
All of the Waterfront area is decked out for fall.
SeaWorld does the best job of all the Orlando parks when it comes to creating a real fall feeling.
Everything is colorful and fun, complimenting the architecture and tropical plants.
If it wasn't 90 degrees it would really feel as much like fall as it looks.
The wreaths are new this year and a twist on traditional fall decorations.
Lots of mums all around in beautiful fall colors.
Just about every flower bed is filled with fall colors. Even the entrance plaza is
decked out with mums.

They are making INCREDIBLE progress on the Antarctica area. We've heard the current plan is to
have things open by the end of May 2013 and the project is on schedule.
It looks like the shop is making good progress and I have to wonder if it will open before the rest of the area? Overview of the area. The building is enormous!
With the exterior shell nearing completion, the crews are hard at work inside as well. That's the edge of the old pool. It looks like all the major steel structure is in place.
The walls are starting to take shape on all sides.
It appears that the heavy machines that make the snow & ice will be on the top floor.
Lots of cooling units being installed to make this the coldest attraction! Down on the ground there are snow and rock walls being fabricated.
The park is starting to setup for Halloween Spooktacular. Banners are up and it looks like the Bayside Path is getting setup for the event. I noticed Panera Bread and Jo-Ann Fabrics are now sponsors of the event and I can't help but laugh at the thought of children being handed bread and fabric swatches as treats.
It's so great having the underwater viewing windows
at Shamu Stadium open to the public again!
New Christmas merchandise is arriving...

August 6, 2012

The construction is going really quickly on the new attraction building
The steel structure seems to be nearly complete with the roof and walls going up now.

Work continues on the shop and restaurant as well as the ride/animal exhibit building The building is starting to resemble the rendering in shape Amazing to see the roof
and walls going up so fast!
Overviews of the area...interesting to see how narrow the path will be (just like the rendering)
I'd guess the low section of the building will be queue and exhibit The building fills much of the old plaza area
The topiary is back at Pacific Point The banners for Blue Horizons
are missing for some reason
This is the area rumored to be
under consideration for
the park's next new attraction
Only a few shows of Illuminations
left for the summer
A new Aquatica ticket deal is
being advertised around the park
So nice to see the underwater viewing area reopened
at Shamu Stadium
