After purchasing a 2005 Season Pass, passholders were
allowed to sign a section of Kingda Ka's track.
Kingda Ka and Golden Kingdom signs have been placed throughout the park.   The Preview Center shows previews of Kingda Ka and the Tiger Island show on continuous loops (and draws huge crowds of interested guests).

Apparently people can't find Medusa?!?
("Does anyone know what time the water show is?".)

SFGAdvFF10161704 021 copy.jpg (1607477 bytes) The Bandstand is undergoing restoration, with new sheathing and trim being installed where it had rotted out.

The Bandstand Cafe just got a fresh coat of paint, and looks really sharp with its new color scheme of blue and cream with red accents.

The leaves are changing color all around the park. SFGAdvFF10161704 044 copy.jpg (1758746 bytes)

Express check lanes (for guests without bags) have been added to the Front Gate The "A" side of the cables have started their Winter rehab There was a Lazer Tag demo/booth set up in the park today Entenmann's is now sponsoring the submarine ride (ummmm...donuts!)  The Log Flume had a huge line today, while Poland Spring Plunge sat unused, but strangely the boats haven't been removed for the Winter yet

SFGA Sept 11 2004 016 copy.jpg (1122510 bytes) More signs of Fall are appearing--
Fright Fest decorations are going up all over the park.
Caramel apples are now available (yay!!!), and Best of the West is now serving Soup and Chili in bread bowls.   Best of the West apparently is very popular this year, so it is being kept open longer than usual (it usually closes after Labor Day).

Click here to check out the Fright Fest 2004 page!

The red train from Scream Machine has been removed (presumably for rehab over the Winter).   The third train from Runaway Train has also been removed from the track.    SFGA Sept 11 2004 054 copy.jpg (1644365 bytes)
SFGA Sept 11 2004 098 copy.jpg (1594574 bytes) A teddy bear version of Mr. Six is now available in the Main Street Market.  Speedy Gonzales was out greeting people at the Front Gate today. The lakeshore near Viper looks much better now that the brush and dead trees have been removed. The car display/raffle is gone, but the unsightly tent is still there. The NBA Jam Van was in the park today.

Sand Sculpture of a castle and Mr. Six are on display at Hurricane Harbor (this is the last weekend of operation).  Take it Ee-Zee Creak is only running halfway around the island due to a shortage of lifeguards. Merchandise is half off at Island Traders end of season sale. The carts are being put away for the Winter. The birds (which were relocated from Six Flags Worlds of Adventure) have been brought indoors for the Winter already.

SFGA Sept 6 2004 007 copy.jpg (1875044 bytes) Work continues on the Bandstand and in the surrounding area.   The stone wall and the overgrown bushes have been removed, and the fountain is now running again.

Sound and lighting equipment are now sitting on the stage.  Rumor has it this may be part of the Fright Fest entertainment.

SFGA Sept 6 2004 016 copy.jpg (1970732 bytes) Landscaping has been added around the paintball building, and the construction fences have been removed (from the front, but not the back).  Sidewalks have been poured which lead to the service entrances, and go almost all the way to the back fence.  Knowing park guests, people will be climbing over the fence in no time.
A billboard that sprays cool mist has been placed next to the Liberty Square Gazebo. SFGA Sept 6 2004 017 copy.jpg (1621166 bytes) SFGA Sept 6 2004 024 copy.jpg (1248679 bytes) It's beginning to look a lot like Fall...

...from the number of closed rides...

...to the number of closed games
(these pictures were taken at about 2:30 in the afternoon).

SFGA Sept 6 2004 025 copy.jpg (1029985 bytes)
SFGA Sept 6 2004 082 copy.jpg (1683677 bytes) More landscape work has taken place in the Western section. It looks like it's just some pruning and cleanup of brush, and now some fresh mulch has been laid. This was supposed to be the last day for Bugs Bunny Land, but the signs had been removed and rumor has it that BBL will remain open through the end of the season now. The once blank sign back now tells us to "Have a Great Day!" The Jersey Guys and the "Big Yellow Van" were on hand for the Jersey Jams show on August 22nd. SFGA Aug 22 2004 030 copy.jpg (1618046 bytes) Some tree removal has happened in the area along the lake near Viper.   It may be just some pruning and clean-up or preparation for something else... Work continues on the Bandstand, with the lights and speakers being removed. Rapid Fire Paintball has opened.   Below is a picture of the interior.  They are having a grand opening special right now for anyone who feel like firing a few hundred rounds off!
The Western Shootout sign has finally been removed. The new Rapid Fire Paintball Building facade looks good.

Work has begun on the Bandstand, with he outer siding being removed on the backstage area.  My guess is the covered seating area is going to remain, and the stage area replaced for the Tiger Island show next year.  The Six Flags toys are now available in the Main Street Market. While at the park today at noon (a hot Saturday in August) both flumes were closed.  The Log Flume finally opened around 1:00. Bad enough the Super Teepee was neutered a few years ago...now it's growing weeds! The Robin side of Chiller was up and running after the power outage on Wednesday. The Paintball Building is coming along. It seems to be getting a Western facade despite being in Boardwalk.  A piece of the fence was down today revealing "Rapid Fire" stations along the front counter.
The leather shop turned dress shop has now turned into a security booth. Bugs is in need of some major paint restoration work in front of the Character Cafe. Video (Windows Media Player style) has been added to the DJ in the gazebo.

New planters have been placed on the Western bridge...seems like someone tried to drive across it by the looks of the wood replaced. The Bandstand and Bandstandza Cafe (McDonald's) area has been fenced off.   Probably for construction of Tiger Island (or possibly for some sort of Fright Fest attraction?) The plain garbage cans now remind us "It's Playtime!" Chaos was finally reopened... Misting fans have been placed at the entry to the Boardwalk.
Nitro's souvenir stand has been converted to a Security booth (good to see the increased Security presence). ...but Houdini's Great Escape was closed again. Despite rumors of an extended downtime, ErUPtion was open.

August 10, 2004

August 10 005.jpg (612449 bytes) For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, the baboons are now behind a fence in the Safari (and they don't seem to like it!) August 10 016.jpg (599462 bytes) August 10 008 copy.jpg (990245 bytes) August 10 011.jpg (600714 bytes) August 10 009.jpg (520216 bytes)
August 10 013.jpg (612552 bytes) Six Flags-opoly is now available...and it's even customized for Great Adventure, with all the correct names and even the right pictures on the box!

Good to see something like this that really is a reflection of the park rather than a generic souvenir!
There's lots of new merchandise this year, including these cool hats with the bus!   There's also a ton of merchandise with the skyline of Six Flags Magic Mountain... August 10 026.jpg (613845 bytes)

The once magical Enchanted Forest is somewhat spoiled with an aluminum building in the middle.
The new building is complete and the facade is going on the side facing the Western section.   Of course the view from the other side is far from magical, looking like something out of Better Quonset Huts & Gardens rather than something appropriate to a them park! August 10 029.jpg (557683 bytes)

Hopefully the building will be getting detail than just this!
August 10 014.jpg (613670 bytes) August 10 012.jpg (584504 bytes) August 10 018.jpg (585657 bytes) On this busy day at the height of the Summer season, Poland Springs Plunge was closed sometime before 6:00 (even though the park was crowded and it was about 85 degrees! August 10 017.jpg (613991 bytes)

Chaos is still closed, though the water dummies are gone.

August 5, 2004

August 5 008.jpg (556086 bytes) The bus has arrived, and is is a very popular picture spot. August 5 G.jpg (524475 bytes) August 5 013.jpg (600775 bytes) (Right) the fountain on the lake behind Best of the West is finally on (to help keep down the bugs) August 5 003.jpg (601515 bytes)
August 5 I.jpg (720244 bytes) August 5 J.jpg (531925 bytes) August 5 005.jpg (566542 bytes) The mystery building continues to go up, and is about 1/3 complete. August 5 004.jpg (614188 bytes)

August 3, 2004

August 3 003.jpg (617085 bytes) The best restaurant in the park just got better!
Best of the West, now with Roasted Corn!
August 3 007.jpg (621697 bytes) Liberty Square Gazebo had a DJ today. August 3 BW.jpg (878335 bytes) A concrete floor has been poured in the new building site and walls are going up for the corners.

July 31, 2004

July 31 NotesA.jpg (1007404 bytes) Work continues on the site between the tents.  Foundations have been poured, but still no definitive answer as to what is being built.  July 31 NotesB.jpg (957223 bytes) The two corners facing the Western section now have wooden posts and bracing standing in holes that look like they're ready for more cement. July 31 047.jpg (638039 bytes) Chaos is closed again, and water dummies are sitting in half the seats.
July 31 NotesD.jpg (879708 bytes)
The old Western Shootout building has been fixed up (somewhat) with trellis and fresh paint.  It's an improvement over what it used to look like July NotesF.jpg (960150 bytes)
Banners are finally up on Dream Street (more than halfway through the season). July NotesE.jpg (785770 bytes) The new dancing Mr.Sixs at the Front Gate greet guests.
