The Log Flume opened with the park, July 1, 1974, and was an immediate sensation.   When it opened, it was the longest flume ride in the world.    The ride proved so popular that a second flume (the Hydro Flume) was constructed for the second 1975 season.

Designed and built by Arrow Dynamics, the Log Flume features a long course along a peninsula, featuring two lift hills and several hidden drops with a featured drop in front of the Best of the West restaurant.   The ride features a turntable for loading and unloading.   The ride vehicles are shaped as logs.

The flume is known today as the Saw Mil Log Flume.
