The Chaos ride was added to the park in 1999 as part of the "war on lines".   It was a standard model Chance Chaos ride, and was located in front of the Studio 28 Arcade.

Chaos rides worldwide suffered much downtime after a series of accidents in other parks, and thought Great Adventure's ride had spotless safety record, it was closed for mechanical modifications required by the manufacturer, and later as a precaution after a series of mechanical malfunctions at other parks.

During the 2004-2005 off season, the ride was removed to the park's "boneyard".
